Title: dacron line
Post by: john2244 on January 13, 2012, 06:24:15 AM
I received some 130# dacron line that is about 30 years old.  The line has never been used, do you think it is safe to use ???
Thanks for the help.

Put some on a scale and try to break it. If you bottom out a 50lb. scale pull more if it does not break use it.
I repaired rent rod reels and replaced line back in the 60's. I had several old reels full of Dacron that sat for many years. The line had deteriorated some but not enough to worry about.
It would also make great wind on leaders, If you do that.
