Title: Most Popular Fluorocarbon Leader Lb Class Line
Post by: Black Pearl on May 24, 2012, 12:44:06 AM
Hi all,

I would like to know what is the most popular fluorocarbon leader lb class line. I will be bring in the following fluorocarbon (the middle) leader in 25 yards per spool by end of August. This line is excellent and very durable. It has always been my goal to bring in a good product with the lowest price to most anglers.

(http://www.thehulltruth.com/members/thunder5l-albums-thunder5l-album-picture59503-fluo.jpg)

This fluorocarbon is made with 100% Japanese carbon, and the price will be very reasonable (Eg. 25 yards 20 lb class will be around $6.30).

Your opinion will be very helpful!!!

Thanks,
--Alan

G'day Alan,
I always carry 20, 40 and 60lb fluoro.
I use a hard mono for heavier applications, ie 100 and 130lb.
Cheers, Justin

I try to select my Flouro by line diameter as every manufacture is different on their idea of how to rate their lines.

My most used is (in order of preference, CABS = Crimp breaking strength):

1) 0.023" CABS = 44# (BlackWater 35#, Seaguar 130 12KG)
2) 0.021" CABS = 40# (BlackWater 30#, Seaguar 130 10KG, Premeir 35#, Stren Tinted 30#)
3) 0.025" CABS = 53# (BlackWater 40#, Seaguar 130 14KG, Premeir 45#, Stren Tinted 40#)

CABS is optimized reformed crimping using Jinkai K sleeves

I use sizes from 10 to 130 lb. The small size line is for the good abrasion quality's. The 40 to 130 is for both abrasion and less visibility. I have used some colored, but prefer clear. If color would break the transmission of light down the line length I would consider it. So far I have not been impressed with color assisting in transmission. So I use clear.

Thats always been my opinion....
Color = Pigment..
Pigment = visible...

Only purpose of the fluorocarbon is its refractive ability (Invisibility)......

    I have 20lb- 60lb on the boat and 80 lb. at home.  I do see a lot of people using 35lb recently, but I'm unclear on why not just go with either 30 or 40lb?  BTW, I use the clear.  I used to use yo-zuri pink until I got sick of cutting my hands trying to snug a knot down  :-\
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Thanks for asking our opinion,
Dom
