Title: Pflueger trion question
Post by: Steelyfinn on July 04, 2021, 04:13:12 PM
I found this in a river a couple of years ago and finally got around to tearing this reel down to see if I could get it fully functional. I couldn't find a schematic or explanation that showed the function of the lever on the right rear of the reel, or even show this model with that lever.

The reel is now working surprisingly smooth now, though it will need some work to improve the drag.

Does anybody know what this feature is or how it functions?

Thanks,
Jon

I THINK it is for Flipping .
You push it on then hold the Release flip the lure and let off .It will already be in Retrieve mode when you do .
Might have a Schematic around here somewhere .....will look
Good Luck ,Neat Find .

guessing:
off - spool release locks; no need to hold it; freespool until you crank handle
on - freespool as long as you hold spool release (doesn't lock); instant retrieve when you let go
...could be the other way around

aside from pitching/flipping it's a nice feature for drift/float, or any situation where
you want INSTANT control over giving/taking line

Thanks guys,

Both of you were right - it works just the way you described.
