My near-mint 501, with all internals stainless,  spool rubs slightly against the pinion I presume, when in free spool. Basically stops with extra side play adjustment via left bearing. Any ideas?

Sorry for the late reply, sounds like you need to bend the tabs on the eccentric jack down a little.  The tabs push on the yoke which will push the pinion farm there away from the spool.  You should have just a little side play on the spool.  Bill
