I have an accurate boss magnum 270 that I've had probably 8 years or so. I used it for the first few years quite often then put it up and haven't touched it in a few years. It was always washed and dried with a chamois. Now I have taken the reel back out to try to use it and I can't turn the handle. The spool spins freely in free spool and the drag and drag level work properly. Do I have bad anti reverse bearings? Or is there another issue?
yeah, AR bearings are likely seized up. there are two and the are $20 each. it's a pretty simple matter to press out the old ones and press in new ones. a hydraulic press is nice. i just have a monster vise.
Thanks! I'll order them tonight from boca bearing. Should I also do the spool bearings? Also does anybody make a bearing sleeve for my reel or do I need to try to make one? I saw your post about how to do it.
yeah, gotta make one yourself. at least until bryan gets is lathe working.
