Title: ABU Garcia 6500 Synchro?
Post by: steelhead_killer on May 10, 2020, 07:16:36 PM
??? Anyone seen one before?  What is the purpose of the Synchro function?  The handle rotates backwards loosening the drag?

Sort of a neat reel. I used to fish a 7000C Synchro for salmon before I went to Avets and Accurates. The idea is that you turn the handle back about a third turn and it reduces the drag. You can change how much the drag backs off by using a special key to adjust a knob on the handle. It's trial and error. And, of course, when you turn the handle to bring in the fish, the drag ramps up to where it was before you turned the handle backwards. It is useful if you like to reduce the drag to allow the fish to run and tire himself out. I guess. you could also turn the star a bit to achieve the same thing...

Ok cool.  I need to put some line on her and test that function out.

Thank you!
