Title: Where should the shims be? Accurate Boss Extreme 400.
Post by: Drisse on March 05, 2022, 11:19:59 AM
When I whiped of grease of a lefthanded Accurate Boss Extreme 400 I ended up with some shims in the rag. Two of them are the same and one is a bit different. Watched the schematic, but didn't find them. Watched a couple of videotutorials, but they don't show any shims. Could they be placed as I put them in the picture ?

those little shims usually get stuck to the bearing when you take the reel apart and then you find them after like you did. You have them correct. put er back together. I have found that not all reels have them so maybe the factiry mis places them. Does not seem to affect performance,

ah, i think i know!!!!  these reels should have a bearing sleeve that is just slightly too short.  add the shims to inside of either bearing to functionally "lengthen" the bearing sleeve and take axial inwards pressure off the bearings.  there should be a couple of thousandths play.
