Title: Shimano TYR50IILRS
Post by: zundels on December 11, 2010, 06:49:13 PM
Has anybody had any experience with the larger Tyrnos reels? I am about to buy a set (6) of them and spool them with 130 lb JB and a 100-150 yrd mono topshot for billfishing in the Gulf of Mexico. I have read about the drag issues with the smaller models but have not seen much on the bigger reels. Looking for any kind of feedback before I buy them.

Thanks,

they really are great reels.  they have never gotten the recognition that they deserved.

Thanks Alan; if you say they are great reels then I am more than comfortable with them. Have you seen or heard of any drag issues with the TYR50IILRS that you saw in the smaller models that are made overseas?

Thanks again for providing this site and you expertise; it is truely amazing.

you will need to pull the drag washer out and inspect it.  some of them were crumbling.
