You read the title correctly!!! The Liver Eaters enjoyed Liver last night at Dominick's!!!!
Growing up, my Mom made Liver and Onions with a cream sauce 3 times a year and we had it so often eating liver was just what we had.
Fast forward, our first son was born 39 years ago, and while our baby and Jennifer were staying for a few days in the hopsital, Jen's mother, my Mother-in-law,
made me her version of Liver and Onions for me!!!
When our second son was born, 35 years ago YESTERDAY, I again was having Liver and Onions with my Mother-in-Law.
I've been wanting to have some, and Linda tells me Dominick's MAKES THE BEST LIVER & ONIONS!!!
So... Last night the Liver Eaters gathered for this. Enjoy the photo fest.
The STAR of the Show - Calfs Liver THANK YOU, Dominick!!!

My friend Jueno has been hanging out with me too much. He is even sounding like a New Yorker. Jus as$ me. ;D Dominick
P.S. Thanks for the accolades my friend.
a long time ago, a co-worker told us that her husband hated liver. he said, "if i ever come home and smell liver, i'll divorce you!? my co-worker replied, "if you come home and smell liver, you'll know what it means...". ;D
It's an acquired taste!
Looks pretty tasty, to me !!
I love liver & onions, especially with pan fried potatoes & steamed asparagus! :-* I enjoy fried chicken livers a little bit more, though. Cracker Barrel has great chicken livers. I get them every time I go there. ;D
My father would cook us bacon and lamb kindeys for breakfast, was pretty good. We'd have liver and onions for dinner from time to time too. Good stuff!
Looks good, especially with all the fixin's....bill
Wow. Just...Wow. I was always the guy in deer camp that made liver and onions - and half the guys couldn't bring themselves to enjoy the goodness. Those pictures were so awesome I'm going to see if I can convince the folks at the county courthouse that my Germanic last name is actually a misspelling and that Dominick needs to adopt me.... - john
oh, good -- it's a feast
was afraid he stole Fire from the gods & they sent mean eagles w/ taste for liver :o
That looks offaly good :D
I was Forced to Eat Fried Liver in Grade School .
That was nearly 60 years ago . I had to Smother mine in Ketchup to gag it down or go hungry the Rest of the Day.
With that said it has Never appealed to me to this Day .
However after looking at this Rendition I will have to try it once More . Might have to put a Clothes pin over my Snoot but willing to try again .
Nice Sumptuous Presentation !
Great way to get lots of iron into your system short of chewing on a hunk of cast iron. :D :D
I'm a solo liver eater too! L.E.A. (Liver eaters anonymous). I very carefully cut out any thing that might be chewy.
That presentation is 4 star restaurant stuff Dom.
I had a good friend in junior high school that was Italian. I was always afraid to go to his house for dinner. His mom would put out huge plates of food that were impossible for an 89lb kid to eat. Being raised by a depression era dad meant you didn't waste food. I'd keep eating until they would notice my suffering lol.
Nothing like the smell of fried liver & onions. Great photos Wayne. 8)
Sitting here shaking my head.
I have never understood why anyone would like liver. Taste/smell/texture I just cannot handle.
Mom made it every week.
I learned how to drink black coffee because we made a deal that I could have it with the liver.
Was the only way that I could swallow it.
Neat to see how many people actually like the stuff.
Given the choice, I'd opt out of eating liver....but I can say that I bagged an elk 30 years ago, and my mother in law cooked some elk liver for dinner and it was really good !!
never enjoyed tripe texture, no matter how good the sauce
otherwise, I've had literally EVERY organ meat prepared in a tasty manner:
lungs and udders and brains, oh my
Family deer camp, our annual hunt in the high sierras growing up grandparents and dad and brothers. We would have 6-8 tags and in the early days there might be 6-8 deer hanging within a few days. Grandma always made Liver and onions in camp and it was to die for. I still cook it up now and again but it's only me and my son that eat it. I can understand not wanting to eat store bought liver, but fresh venison liver is so much better there is no comparison.
Well done Dominick.
Yep, liver and heart are always welcome in a hunting camp. Elk heart is my favorite, liver is farther down the list.
For all you liver lovers and liver haters. This the way we ate liver as kids. I haven't tried to find the caul since I've been in California. Dominick

if no caul, fry in duck/goose fat
... or save the parsons nose off of a few dozen chickens and render it down.
The smell of cooking liver makes me gag.
Oh sure , you guys wait until I'm safely cribbed up at Lake Almanor and then you serve up the delicacies.....
I'm home now , what's next ?
Best,
JT
Yes Ted you beet me to it , the best ingredient in Doms dish was missing, the heart, we were taught never to waste food, we had liver & heart at least once a fortnight, great pics Wayne, made my mouth water, My mother also cooked soup with chooks liver & giblets, I loved it. cheers Don.
I like liver and onions, fried crispy and with crispy bacon and .................... bar b q sauce. This thread reminded me I have not had it in a long time. Maybe because no one else in the house or company would eat it. :-[
Cheers:
Todd
I actually love the smell of some fired up liver and opinions, but that's as far as I can go. Mom would cook up liver ala chili colorado (red chili salsa) rice, beans tortillas it was a feast for the eyes... biting into it always left us kids asking if something was wrong with the carne asada...
She was a genius and never broke character, as we slowly ate those days.
Dom's looks equally amazing.
Donny - I likes me my liver and giblets cooked up, but you threw me - what's a "chook"? Does it have fur or feathers? Then again down where you live it might even be reptilian in nature? - john
Ha Haa, John Toby, chook, poultry, you know the feathered one, My brother also had racing pigions, we had a cull every 6 months, we used there giblets, liver & heart, in the pearl barley soup, cheers Don.
Ay Toby, we also had a good beer before, the soup, I dont think they have any good beer in your part of the world, do they, cheers Don.
Hey Don, if we ever get over to your side I'll cook! ;D
Mike
Well come on Mike, how much longer is it going to be, I am getting hungry, I can see why these blokes get confused, I call the old girl a chook sometime, or @ least an old boiler, cheers Don.
