Interesting question, hope someone here might have done this. A customer was given some TEK 300's in good shape and he wants to use them for bobber fishing for salmon and steelhead. He uses a rubber type bobber stop and it will not fit through the line guide. He could go to a tie type boober stop but wants to stay with what he has. He has asked if there is any way he can fix that problem. I told him that grinding the line guide wider may result in rough edges that would fray or cut his line and he asked if there was another line guide I could install that is wider. Thought I would post that here and see if anyone has dealt with a similar problem and has a recommendation. Thanks.
If you put a wider line guide then it will not lay line evenly and you will have a big hump in the middle of the spool. It would be much easier to use a smaller bobber slide stopper. Put a small red bead between the stopper and the bobber.
