OK, last trip for this season. We leave this morning. The January trip was disappointing, the February trip was worse. Hopefully this trip will be productive. :-\
Good luck Alan! May the big fish descend upon your jig/bait with a vengeance!
Go get'm Alan! You're due for a couple bigguns'
Go get 'em Alan and crew!!!
Safe and happy travels!
Good Luck Boss! - john
Safe travels and hope you get them this time
Wheels down!!!
I will be rooting for you Alan. See you in a month or so.
On the boat!
Looks like a bunch of rowdy fish killers!!!
Best name for a boat I've ever seen.
Slow fishing today. A dozen peanuts, that's it.
Tomorrow's a new day! Hope that you catch some of those big live squid tonight. They always seemed to get bit by the larger models when nothing else would.
A thresher and a marlin. No tuna yet.
One big dorado.
Yummi
Wishing you luck, Alan —-
Today should be the day!
Best Always, Fred
You have to chant: Fishy fishy bite my hook. You be the dinner and I'll be the cook.
Then you have to spit in the water or it won't work. 😊

Slow fishing day, but beautiful weather.
Finally got a big one. 210 pounds.
Shots of tequila all around!!!
:0) !!!!!! Nice fish Dave.
Get em, brother!!! Nice to see a fish on deck, vs. Harris Teeter, where I've been catching mine. I was asked politely to leave when I brought in a rod and bounced a squid jig in the lobsta tank.
Lady A, I see you lurking....havent had a report from you inna minute...
Awesome photos! Great to see a cow hit the deck! Go get 'em! - john
Look at those sickles, shows the size of the fish.
Congratulations, well done.
Is that Dave's PB?
Here is the first half of the hour long fight. My battery died half way through. https://youtu.be/brYrq2OVKuw
The custom bucket seat is a good idea.
Good job Dave!
Great shots! Filming didn't make it to the death spiral but still emocionante!

Nice fish gentlemen! Bill
I looked for the green flash on the sunset. Disappointed. Looks like you
all had fun. Dominick
Good job, Alan —-
Looks like a cattle ranch on the aft deck!
Best, Fred
Nice series of videos Alan !! Looks like a ball ! Congrats John Taylor
Wow, Can't wait to go back!!
Mike
Great way to end a trip!!!
Great fishing & thanks for the movies, good to see plenty of fish for most of you, cheers Don.
so do you get to keep the fish you catch?
they do a great job - filet, vacuum pack, and freeze!!!!
good looking butterballs!
On the rail, ok. Low gear, ok. But on the rail in low gear while the deckhand pinch-pulls line onto the reel?

After a 1 1/2 hours and 35# of drag, I take all the help I can get. Back to back 150# bluefins nearly killed me. If I was fishing 10# of drag no problem, but higher drag numbers (25+) for an extended period (20+ minutes), save that for the youngsters.
YMMV... Bill
I had my 338# BFT almost to the boat in less than 45 minutes....then the large mako chased it around for what seemed like hours.
I do not fault anyone getting help if needed.
yeah, not enough drag. ???

That fish was way out of the rod/reels weight class. I brought a knife to a gun fight. After watching the video I could see the rod tip at 90* numerous times plus the tangles allowed the fish to rest way too much. Seems like I could never get his head up. Bill
If you weren't being so rude and tangling with everyone on the boat it would have been easier.... ;D

I though you were always using Marla's own equipment
Alex I'm speaking about the June SOA trip last year. I was using 80# on a Penn Fathom 40NLD2 and was nearly beat by an extremely angry tuna.

Now that's funny 🤣🤣🤣

That fish was making such huge circles that even though you were at the bow, it'd pick up guys fishing off the stern... that's why you had such a large audience... everyone else had given up!
70' + circles. I was in the far corner and got to join in the fun.
90 degree rod tip sounds perfect to me! Real fishing!
The Man
Now you all are making me feel bad about all that... :d
You should feel bad.... :o

The way I see it some others are rude to a friend.
I know the feeling you get when pulling Yellowfin. Pretty tough and determined fisherman I would suggest to land that size on your own. :d
Everyone on the boat quit fishing to watch Bill having fun, several of us "helped" by making some of the worse tangles I have ever seen. I cut my line to get out of the way.
We had a few of those tangles on this trip and cut more than one to free up a fish. Its what you do. These fish are hard to come by, hard to hook and even harder to land. If someone has one hanging you throw our own weight into his battle and support him. I had almost as much fun watching as I did catching. :d

The support and encouragement you get from the other fisherman on these AT trips, whether it's 4 fishermen on the Marla IV, 6 on the NTNC, or 24 on the SoA, is what separates Alan's trips from other long range trips I've been on. At 70+ years old, I need all the help I can get landing a decent fish. I've been on other LR trips where "rail etiquette" was almost nonexistent and combat fishing was the order of the day.
I am now afflicted with the dreaded "Curse of the Supercow". On my 2nd Marla's trip back in 2017 I caught the YFT of a lifetime, almost 350#'s. In 7 subsequent trips I've caught 2 tuna around 100 #'s each, about 1/2 dozen schoolies, a nice sailfish and a nice marlin. And some decent bottom fish. And the curse carries over to the other fishermen as well. Anyone know an exorcist or shaman that can cure this malady? My Covid booster didn't seem to help.

What happened to Scotty's "stolen" truck from our February fiasco?????
Did his bail $ get refunded?
GA Mike
scotty still has not gotten his truck back. there is a possibility that it actually was stolen. if that's the case, sotty might just have to take the loss. roberto indicated that scotty got a pretty good deal when he bought it. maybe the deal was too good to be true.
