Title: Penn Senator 3/0
Post by: JosephD on August 04, 2009, 04:19:09 AM
Hello and thank you for posting so much great information. To start out, I have a couple of older penn 3/0 reels (from the 50's and 60's) that I would like to get into good or great working order. What do you recommend me to do with these reels that have been sitting for so long? Are the drag washers from penn adequate or do you recommend others? Also, I read that when oiled from the oil locations on the outside of the reel may get onto the drag washers, is this true?

Thank you

joseph, the penn ht-100 drag washers are fine.  just add the cal's grease.  for the fiber washer underneath the main gear, i use a cut down penn ht-100 #6-113 washer.  it's ground down to about the same outer diameter of a #6-155.  to lube the spool bushings, i'd actually recommend removing them and then add a drop or two of your favorite lube.  you can do that easily from the outside.  check out the penn 111 rebuild post.  it is virtually the same as the 112 and 112h.  alan
