Title: Parts needed from Australia
Post by: InTheNet on February 02, 2016, 07:57:23 PM
I am not  a frequent poster here but do look in when I am stuck on a repair.

I have been looking for some spare parts for a Penn 875lc for several years and looks like Anglers central in Australia has them. They do not seem real excited about shipping them to the US.

Any body willing to order them and ship them to me? I will gladly pay up front. Only need a few parts but are unavailable in the U.S. / discontinued. And I will pay for your time/trouble

I don't know how best to pay for them, But I can send a check/ cash/ PayPal or I print my own Money orders   ;D.

The part I really need is penn 62-875 clicker spring but there is a couple more I want for spares.

I have 50 of these reels  both 855/875's that I use for different techniques. (Only one is bad and I broke the counter) They are about 20 years old.

If any body is willing I would appreciate it

Thank you. Rick Hehn. Richehn@netscape.net.   In The Net charters.com

The penn digital line counters are nice reels. The line counter when set up properly is very accurate .  I average within 2% at 100ft of line out.

When they were in production they were pretty pricey at around $130  a pop.

I keep my eyes open and scoop up used ones. I bought one a couple of weeks ago with 2 hours on it for $35.

We use them trolling for Walleye/ aAtlantic salmon and for  Dipsey's for king salmon. I will never run out of them , but it drives me crazy having them not in proper working condition.

All freshwater.

Thanks Wallace,
It turns out I have an account with them I last used mid 2014 - just had to wait overnight to reset the forgotten password. I know what you mean about accents, face to face conversation usually isn't too bad, but over the phone can make it harder to understand each other.

Hi Steve, I have updated Rick by email - I placed the order Friday pm and received shipping confirmation yesterday followed by a refund advice for the 62-875 clicker springs about an hour later. The Angler Central site is now showing the 62-875 clicker springs for 875lc as 'out of stock' I'm guessing their inventory wasn't up to-date and they were out of stock. The order was sent express so I expect it tomorrow or the following day and will confirm with Rick then. Thanks, but there is not a lot we can do if they are out of stock.

Unfortunately, this is often the case with them. Always best to call them for verbal confirmation.

Can you post a photo of the part with a ruler in the background for dimensions?

You might fluke a match from a similar model.

Hi Rick
They were out of clicker springs as we had suspected. The other parts turned up yesterday while I was at work but needed to be signed for – I picked them up today and will forward them ASAP.
I realise the springs were the main part of your order - I had a quick search on google and ebay, as no doubt you have, without luck. I am only familiar with a few of the more common Penn reels but the spring looks to be unique with the holding screw on the inside of the spring curve – making it unlikely another spring could be modified or adapted to fit. If I see any I'll let you know.

A BIG thank you to Michael and others that offered to help. The spring is oddball . I have looked at others to see if I could do a work around but no luck.

Michael if you are ever in Michigan there is an open spot on my boat for you!  Inthenetcharters.com

Thank you again

Rick
