has anybody installed an AR pawl to abus without it? just wondering if it can be done. thanks in advance. tight lines....

I'm confused about your question Mel, but I confuse easy.   Are you referring to the Anti Reverse dog?  If so, yes several of us have ABU reels with AR bearings and AR dogs.

Persuant to Keta's post above: Try:

http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=2631.msg15737#msg15737  will get you the mechanical anti-reverse on the instant reel.

If you are going the other way, and wanting IAR on a mechanical, this will only work with later models of mechanical, where the two bellevilles are on top of the little black barrel-shaped bushing. Then, You will need the IAR bearing, and its sleeve.

I took the easy way out and replaced the brake plate (22813) with an earlier model (22803) and added a AR dog (5174). Cost about $29 new. I could have done it cheaper on ebay but I went to Southwestern Parts and bought the parts
