Title: pinion bearing 7500ss
Post by: basto on October 15, 2014, 04:34:46 AM
Hi Guys
Is it OK to leave the pinion bearing in my 7500ss unshielded? I intend to fill it with blue grease. I am not going to fish this reel. It is just for my collection.
cheers
Basto

Just My Opinion Basto,
If The bearing were inside the reel, I'd say yes. If it were mine, I would pack it and put the shields back on.

It's okay to leave it unshielded, but personally, if the shields could be replaced, I would.

Thanks for your replies guys. I will see what condition the shields are in when I am finished with them.
Sometimes I ruin them accidentally.

I have seen them unshielded in Sal's reels. Its no big deal either way. I use a fish hook to pry out the retaining ring and a razor blade to pry up the shield without damaging it.

Its on the far right Mike. Its a blade out of a utility knife.
