First, here's the schematics for:

HG - http://fishshop.shimano.com/media/fishing/SAC/techdocs/en/Saltwater_Spinning/13STLSW_5000HGNew_v1_m56577569830818843.pdf
PG -
http://fishshop.shimano.com/media/fishing/SAC/techdocs/en/Saltwater_Spinning/13STLSW_5000PGNew_v1_m56577569830818844.pdf.
XG -  http://fishshop.shimano.com/media/fishing/SAC/techdocs/en/Saltwater_Spinning/13STLSW_5000XGNew_v1_m56577569830818845.pdf

If your gears are grinding, you will need to change the pinion gear (pn RD15751) and the main gear (pn RD15753) as a minimum.  If you are lucky, that will be it.

You may change to the high gear (HG) from Power Gear (PG) if you change both the pinion gear (pn RD15709) and main gear (pn RD15719).

I notice that there is an XG model as well.  I don't know what XG represents, but you can also change to this gearing by also changing the pinion gear (pn RD15743) and main gear (pn RD15745).

XG stands for extra fast

for the US model the Stella's are not denoted by PG HG or XG.

ahh that would equate to an XG reel

if u would like to convert it to PG

then u gotta change the pinion and drive gear.

do check if your bearings need replacement too!

best of luck! :)

You would have to buy them in either Europe from a Shimano dealer or from Japan from Shimano or a Dealer there.

Shimano USA will not sell to overseas buyers as I understand the current situation.

I placed an order to Plat.co.jp in order to change my XG gears into HG or PG, but I received this answer, in which they say that they don't recommend to uprgade my Stella XG into the HG model, without specifying the reasons. Do you have any idea about it? Thank you so much for your help. This is the answer of Plat:

Dear Sir.
I hope you are well.
Thank you very much for your order.

Regarding "Your stella XG".
We cannot recommend to remodel it to HG.

If you do it by self-responsibility, we cannot interfere.
But, if the parts are available in SHIMANO, we can obtain them.
Would you have any parts to add keeping that in mind ?

I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours cordially.
PLAT

WHAT DO YOU THINK!!
THANKS

ahh typical plat reply...
I dun really use plat anymore.. slow... and expensive....

the reason plat said that is coz they do not recommend u to strip down your stella as its one of the most complex spin reels.

u can go ahead and order the drive and pinion anyways.

or the best way would be to bring your reel down to a tackle shop if you are intimidated hahaha.
get them to order the parts and strip down and service your reel at once.

who knows it might be more than the gears that need replacement.

best of luck :)
