Title: Slip Rings
Post by: Rivverrat on February 07, 2020, 06:06:25 AM
Does any one have a source for slip rings. The rings used for mounting ultra lite reels to cork with out use of a reel seat?  It's called a Tennessee Handle. Can no longer find them... Jeff

Try www.guidesnblanks.com, they are in the UK. Look under reel seats, then 'other reel seats'. They are called sliding reel seats in the UK.

Hope that helps.

I get mine at Jann's. They have aluminum & graphite. I prefer aluminum.  (https://www.jannsnetcraft.com/slip-rings/)

Reviving an old thread here.

What makes these stay in place? Is it just pressure from the cork? I'm intrigued by the concept, especially that some seem to prefer it.

I'm considering building a spinning rig on a fly rod blank and this would simplify the reel seat issue. (Not that it's insurmountably complicated, but this would simplify it.)

As you slip the ring up the taper of the reel foot it gets tightener.
cork handle helps ,but  wood works just as well .
