Title: Maybe for North Atlantic Pollock ????
Post by: cdaline on October 19, 2020, 04:32:54 AM
Another reel I picked up at the swap meet . This Diawa
SeaLine 600H was attached to a very nice VARMAC LW3X
rod. The rod is inscribed "custom built for Pollock" . Not sure
how it made it out to the mountains in Arizona... but I do
know the last owner was not a believer in rinsing the reel in
fresh water after salt water fishing expeditions. A very
uncomfortable "crunchy grind" before clean up. Seems to
hold good quality build reel characteristics. Not impressive
free spool but works as designed. Heavy. Glad I got the chance
to take it apart. I gave $20 for the rod and reel. It would be fun
to land a 40# Pollock. 8)

...wait a minute... Not Pollock....Pollack...probably a surname. Apologies.

Dude,    ;D ;D ;D  KACHING  ;D ;D ;D

it's "CUSTOM BILT FOR [JACKSON] POLLACK"

...but he wouldn't pay up, due to spelling issues & wrong name on the invoice & ugly threadwork :o

$20, hard to beat that. Looks like that set up had a hard life, like it lived on a boat.
Varmac is the maker of the reel seat, you might find some kind of label for the rod under the rear grip hypalon if you ever decide to re-do the handle.

Thank you Swami.... I learned something new. I thought the rod was
Varmac. Good stuff.
