Title: newell kits for penn Jigmaster reels
Post by: speedwagon2 on March 03, 2015, 03:10:44 PM
Hello folks,
My question is: Did Newell make an after market spool that would fit a 501 Jigmaster?  The 322 Newell spool is the right size, but is made for bearings.  I believe the 501 Jig Master(1 and 5/8" long posts) has bushings. The second part of the question is if Newell made the aforementioned spool, would that be in aluminum, or plastic?  I can probably find a Penn spool, but I prefer the newell spools if available.  This information hunt is for a future project involving building a 259 Live bait Caster to the 501/322 width. Thanks for any help.

Yes, Newell did make a spool for the 501. The spool is aluminum and can be found on ebay from time to time.
