It is a bit under 1700 mile round trip for me.  Here's a teaser  my second BFT over 200# (230#) and # 8 tuna over 200#

My goal for this trip is to see my son and others that have never done it catch 200# plus fish.  I will be happy with under100# or over 400# nothing in between....:

I want a repeat of my first LR trip, I got my first and second cow YFT on it.

I want more big fish too! I have my tackle bag packed and a milk crate with 6 rod holders. I have my rigging kits and water bottle in it. I need to bundle up my rods, bag up the reels and pack my clothes. I'll bring my pillow, do we need a blanket too?

You are my kind of guy Mark.  I think we need to bring a blanket.

I am debating on bringing my 30#, I might bring 1 and let Willy use it if needed.  I will feel naked without my go to 30# rig though

Yes bring a blanket, top sheet, and pillow.  SOA will provide a bottom sheet.  There will also be a $25 per day gas surcharge.

Take the 30#. If the rec of 3-4 rods is followed, then there will be plenty of rack space for your 30# rod. At worse the 30# reel stays below deck in your stateroom.

As of now I have 11 rods but half are for my son so it's 5.5 rods.

Phfff...I'm taking the usual 14: 8 conventional, 6 spinners for the July trip.

No antique Daiwas or spinners for me on this trip!  All high-tech leverdrags... that's just the way I roll!
