Does anyone have a simple explanation how the anti-reverse bearing in casting reels, such as the Torium and Saltiga, works?
It is easy for me to see how the A/R pawl and spring work but I must be missing something when it comes to the A/R bearing. I just don't understand how a bearing functions for anti-reverse.
Also, how do you know when the A/R bearing needs to be replaced? How do you tell if the A/R bearing is worn or damaged? If the reel seems to work properly and there is no obvious damage to the A/R bearing does that mean that it is in good shape and doesn't meed to be replaced?

The rollers are on a ramp, when going forward they roll, when going backwards they climb the ramp and exert braking force on the shaft sleve.
When they slip clean them and see if they still brake, if they slip they are worn out.
