Since this reel is in AUS market there's no way to check any physical examples here in the US, but I'll go on "instinct"...I'll assume it's the same design as the Coronado:

Can you remove the handle from the side that it's on? Do so if "yes."

Is there a cap on the left side that you can unscrew? This should be positioned directly opposite of the handle hole on the right side. The cap may be on tight, and if it's plastic, take care when using any tool to loosen it. (UPDATE: If too tight to unscrew with bare fingers, take a wide rubber band and use it to grab the cap with your fingers--just did this with the tight cap on my CD-65, and the extra fiction of the rubber helped "grab" the smooth cap sides.)

When it comes off, look for threaded hole for the handle shaft. Then take the handle and screw it in, cranking the handle in the direction of retrieval until hand tight. Take the cap that came off of the left side and screw it over the handle hole on the right side.

If the above doesn't help, can you post some pics of the reel body's left and right side?

You need to contact Okuma Aus as you need a different handle kit

THAT is CRAZY...who were the engineers who thought that one up and what were they smoking? So much for the KISS principle.

Imagine trying to do a handle swap on the deck of a rolling boat.

exactly my thoughts

That video is the only reference I have been able to find anywhere on the handle changing procedure and it is at best vague.

The problem I am having is the handle is on very tight (doesnt appear to be any corrosion) and I dont want to apply to much force to it without being sure of the direction of the thread or even IF it actually screws on given the need of a special conversion kit .

The customer said he was having trouble with the handle coming loose when fighting a fish.

The little cap that Porthos describes which is actually on the rh side is on way to tight and requires a tool to remove as the alluminium is very soft .

Pulling my hair out with this one , I enjoy a challenge as much as the next person , but jeez .

Its been an ongoing issue with Salina's for some time as well known author Pat Brennan points out in an article in 2009

When purchased new all the parts are supplied in the box to swap sides. Almost all Okuma reels are this way.

I suspect that over here in Aus we are special handi2 .
The problem really is not parts but instructions . Though I have received a lead via pm that I will follow up .

That handle configuration looks like the same configuration on the okuma v system reels sold here.  As its been mentioned, the spare part should have come with the reel if you bought it new.  If not, a call to okuma should secure the parts you need.

This so reminds me of the Sherman and T-34 vs. the Panzer and Tiger...
