Title: Sunscreen
Post by: Rickman on March 26, 2011, 08:59:38 PM
Not sure where this post belongs! I screwed up a reel the other day because I wasn't applying enough sunscreen....40+ years ago. I've been putting something called Efudex on my neck and upper chest for the last month. This crud gets way down and eats up the sun barnacles I've been collecting. It will leave that part of me like a babies butt...or so I'm told. The first week wasn't bad, then it got ugly, then it was ugly and painful, then ugly painful and itchy. I have been as miserable as I've ever been for the last two weeks. I could not wear a shirt, wind was too painful. I had no patience with anything or anyone. And, I was bored to tears. So I pulled out my Daiwa Millionaire and started to clean it up. Went to take the handle nut off and forgot it was a lefty....stripped the shaft and probably the nut as well. Wear sunscreen.

Rickman,

I hear ya buddy... when it rains it pours!  Get some Natural Aloe on that burn and a new gear sleeve.  Hope you feel better.  If it makes ya feel better... my foot is still broken, and I'm laid up.  We'll tough it out, and get back to our usual selves in no time flat!

OUCH !!   Sorry to hear that..

We spend way to much time in the sun not to bath in sun block..

Luckily the reel can be fixed........

Thanks guys! I have turned the corner, the pain is pretty much gone and I can wear a shirt now. Turns out the fishing was lousy the whole time I was laid up!

I came across this post today; I hope you're doing better by now. I'm going to the derm specialist soon to get some of my sun damage checked out.

BTW, for all who read this post: keep the efudex out of reach of your dog. It's a potent chemotherapy drug and highly toxic if ingested. For some reason dogs like to chew it.
