Title: Model 89
Post by: basenjib123 on March 04, 2019, 02:39:34 AM
Found a Model 89 DQ today.  Looks like its from 1974 according to Roland's web site.  Haven't opened it up yet but given the build year and the general looks of it,  I assume this reel is part of the beginning of Dam's downward trend in quality?

Not necessarily a downward trend. Yes, that line of reels were of lesser quality, but it was their, like many other manufactures', attempt at supplying an economy product line.

Yeah, they had to compete with the ever growing stuff coming from Japan too.
