What's a good 1/2 day boat? Taking the family, they're not great on boats.

Labor Day is usually a good time for Morro Bay ... Always dress in layers as it can get chilly... The San Pedro Special from Morro Bay Landing is a wide stable fishing platform with wide side decks for moving around. Virg's also has several options. Have fun with whomever you choose and good luck.
