Title: Stradic 5000FK Upgrade Question
Post by: hfd7c on June 21, 2016, 03:01:42 PM
I was looking to do some upgrades to my Stradic 5000fk after reading a post on upgrades to a 3000fk. Can anyone tell me the size of the bearing to replace the plastic spool bushing (rd16157) Also the size bearing to replace the the bushing on the handle (rd14171).

Any thoughts on the stock bearings in this reel vs boca bearings?

First I read your other post on the same subject.

Purchase a $15.00 or less digital caliper to have so you can measure the bearings. You can purchase bearings from multiple places online.

Boca is one place that will have them. They buy the bearings. They don't make bearings.

There is a rating on bearings called the ABEC rating. That rating designates the construction and tolerance of the bearing. The higher the number the better the bearings. From 1 to 5 for fishing reels. The ABEC7 bearings would be for casting reels to get the longest casts.

For your reel ABEC3 to 5 is needed. The stock bearings are fine.

I've installed the "upgraded" bearings when customers ask for it. The bad thing is I didn't write it down for each model reel.

Check the forum Stipers Online and you may find what you need.
