I am a novice on Shimano spinning reels, but I got quite a few in lately. I don't know how I got the idea to add a drop og oil
on the IAR on a Shimano Twinpower(EU eqivalent to Stella) as it is clearly written (DO NOT USE GREASE) on it, and now the AR is slipping it's grib 30% of the times.
So now I wonder if a tiny drop of oil can cause that?
i use corrosion x on all of the AR bearings that i service. chances are the one you have has simply failed. :-\
oil shouldn't grease may as it may keep the roller bearings from coming outwards to brake the sleeve.

yes. just like main and pinion gears, i always change the AR bearing and inner tube as a set.

Sorry for the late reply... only just read the post.
The short answer to your question is 'yes, the oil can cause that'. I've repeatedly seen instances where both Shimano and Daiwa spin reels have had slip problems with AR bearings as a direct result of even slightly too much lube... and a drop is too much for those reels.
I too use Corrosion X to lube AR bearings but I now aim for nothing more than a 'fingerprint coat'. I use a Q tip with a drop or 2 of Corrosion X that I rotate inside the bearing to cote the pins, then I use the corner of a clean lint free cloth to wipe it off again. This leaves nothing more that a residue of lube on the bearing. Any more and it's quite common (smaller Daiwa AR bearings like in their Team Daiwa series reels seem more prone to it than the larger Shimano bearings) but both will slip in exactly the way you describe.
Clean out the lube and you should solve the problem.
