This box is for a friend, Robert Roncal. I saw very unusual wood at my wood store and just bought it not knowing the use. Later I remembered that Robert was without one of my boxes. Here it is after two coats of finish. It is a stunner to me. I can't wait for the sun to deepen the color even more.
It is now completed.

I still get rave reviews of my scotch & 6 fishy glasses box you custom made for me!!!!!
Last time in Morro Bay, THE MAN (Ron) had a US Navy Grip on the box like I've never seen!!!!! I eventually got it from his iron grip into my car!!!!!

Stunning. I showed off my box to a buddy the other day that hadnt seen it!
That is some FINE looking woodworking right there. Beautiful.
I love the color and figure of cherry when it's young like that. I built all of our bedroom furniture out of cherry and tried to buy interesting pieces like that when I could.
The box is done except I'm waiting for his nameplate.
awesome!!!!!!
Great job ! Cherry is one of my favorite woods.
Beautiful Mark. Glad to see the mortised hinges. ;D

In all boxes I make with 5/8" thick wood you will see hinge mortises, thinner than that and they are desirable but impossible.
Mark, your work is amazing!

That is some wild cherry for sure. Almost looks like big leaf maple.
Execution on point as always.
