Nice! Those are some nice fresh lookin salmon. Ok, Coralsea, where is local ?
While bottom fishing 2 days ago, I managed to hook a salmon from right under the boat, using a 2oz. jig while everyone else was droppin up to 1lb. weights/bait for rockfish. Area closed to salmon, no tag for my license. It was fun usin a light rig and gettin a nice silvery runnin fish like that.
Hello, Vladivostok City, Russian Federation.
Great job coralsea. It's always nice to see places and fishing methods from around the globe.
Scott
Thanks for the post, Great day of fishing, those are good looking salmon
Lots of Salmon!
Nice! Thanks.
steve
Very nice thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Men!
Your flasher and spoon looks like the same stuff we use on the other side of Pacific ocean.....Northwest U.S.
Looks like you had a fun day on the water.
We may live on separate continents, but we have many things in common. Thanks for sharing
The trolling stuff i am using:

wow nice to see it all come together!!!!! ;D
Yep we use the same here. San Francisco Bay area. Dominick
That is great! :)
Our gear may look very similar but the one big difference is we have to pinch down the barb on the hook which allows some fish to easily shake the hook
Very similar to the what we use in Lake Michigan for Salmon,
How deep are you trolling?
We are in 120 to 250 FOW and target the thermocline at 65 ft to 85 ft down, sometimes little deeper, then the 400 Copper wire rods come out.
Who makes these? I have never seen anyone in MI use them

Canadian company. I will look for the name.
Is it Radiant Lures LTD. ???
Quote from: Maxed Out on July 20, 2018, 11:09:47 PMIs it Radiant Lures LTD. ???
Radiant is out of business-still a little of their product around.
Those in the photo might be CJ Specials available Here (https://www.peetzoutdoors.com/blogs/peetz-news/peetz-outdoors-limited-partners-with-cj-special-lures-corporation)
Danke, those lures seem to be pretty meaty, I am guessing from their shape they have slow roll?
Op, that is a neat boat, I love your rigging on the boat, how did you mount the downrigger?

Yes.

I am using standard trolling speed. But i think, that they would prefer a bid faster speed.
Quotehow did you mount the downrigger?
I will make or will look for the photo.
Local fishermen do it in that way:

Nice video, glad to see you folks can bring them home! I really like your set up of the trolling rig on an inflatable boat. That looks like what a 350 size boat?
thanks,little bigger-4,5m.
A new 2019 salmon season has started successfully.
We had 3 strikes with one goal. Cheers!

That was very good,,,,,,,, ;D
nice, I am still awed by the boat, good fishing and thanks for sharing!
I love the big net, I broke down and bought one myself for those COW cohos
We got three recently.
A new season started in a hard way.
Three trips before with zero result.
I still have engine problem (cannot hold the desired speed on trolling) despite engine service and maintenance before the salmon season has started.
I have thoughts that there is something with the engine's noise underwater, so the fish just afraid of it.
I changed the main line length up to 75ft from the rigger clip and had the goal. Will follow that way.
Cheers....

Yesterday's underwater salmon video.
Have to figure out how to make 100% fish strike (will slow the trolling speed a little).
We got 3 fish total....
Cheers.
Great video,,, ;) but I think you need some dr juice scent to kick the flavor or maybe some bacon fat on the end of the hook to get them to bite,,,,,, ;D
It seems to me that your lure is flipping around too much. We use salmon killers here which spins the anchovies. Dominick
U mean Apex/Silver Horde lures?
Any picture of your killers? Thanks.
Pro-Troll Rotary Salmon Lure. Here is a link with a picture. They work really great. Dominick

Scent is only marginally effective on trolled Salmon baits commercial fishermen in British Columbia use it very little if at all.

That's wrong-any bait a Salmon can swim up to it can and will catch & kill; what you're seeing is Salmon rejecting the lure because it's getting a small electrical shock when it tries to bite it-that's why they're all turning away like that it's right there in front of you
just look at what happens with a 'hot boat'.
This is an old old subject here in BC all the commercial boats run 'black boxes' that regulate the production of electric current by the passage of the downrigger wire through the electrolyte-which of course is saltwater.
Sport black boxes are available on the market or you can perform due diligence and carefully go over every source of electrical current on your boat to make it's not 'running hot' or producing too much current causing
exactly what we see in that video.
This website by an ex-commercial fisherman has some info I use his gear and swear by it

A white pork rind has been the trick for over a hundred years from chan pickels to marlin but getting uncle Josh is difficult now ,,,,,a mr twister tail work too,,,,,,, ;D
I am running the manual riggers(with braided line instead of the wire) + I have the rib boat.
I think that hook issue is just too "short" from the tail of the lure
And the size of the lure by itself is a little bigger for our cherry-salmon.
I will try smaller lures next time.
Thanks anyway.
posted for coralsea.....
First...movie...Silver Horde lure. I forgot to replace the factory hook....
Second and third ....movie...I played with the speed...But no goal so far.
I think the lure's size is a little...bigger...Need a smaller one.
Will test next time for sure.

Nice action video.
Pretty cool!
Wonder what would happen if the lure suddenly stopped and fluttered down toward the bottom while a fish was trailing it?
here's another!

just get supermarket fatback... flattest pieces, so you get most rind
I think a weak Borax(boric acid?) brine can be used to soften the rind
I just beat it w/ smooth rock or chew it, 'til I get the right action ::)
mmm... bacon gum(https://i.imgflip.com/3df855.jpg)
That water is amazingly clear.
When I was in that part of the world, US Navy 1986, 1989, approx. 500 miles east of Vladivostok, the water was dark.
Even the white caps had a green hue to them.
Kind of like the salmon water off Bodega but darker.
And man was it COLD!
We didn't get to fish though. ;)
How many salmon per day can you keep CoralSea?
for some reason, timur can read the posts but he can't write a post. i do not know why. i'll take a look. anyway, here is his response.
QuoteMr. Tani. I have a question from Crab Pot.
Could you, please, reply to him, that
one person can keep up to 3 salmon per day.
Thank you!

That's three more than we can keep in California!
At least this season.
Hope ours goes back to two next year.
