Shakespeare / Re: Another trade reel, Ted Wi...

You are on a roll with the Shakespeare trade reels! Had you been looking for awhile and they finally started showing up, or did you recently turn to them as a target for your collection?

Quote from: kjdunne on March 05, 2026, 06:01:38 PMI knew some guys that greased reels like that to "waterproof" them for full immersion surf fishing.  Long before the multiple water seals some reels boast today.

That's what I was thinking... like how some people pack a 704 or 706 for surf fishing. Maybe this reel was used in the surf.

Shakespeare / My 2nd 2062 is an EC
Last post by jgp12000 - March 05, 2026, 07:07:55 PM
Well I went to the local antique mall looking for a Daiwa 1300 that was on Marketplace for $15.I have been before & walked the entire mall & never found it. So this time I had the ad pulled up on my phone showed it to the owner & it took him some digging through the PC to find the location. So after 20 min of searching  an associate took me straight to the spot & it looked great, however the A/R was not working & marked $25? The ad appeared to be a lot of reels for $15,but then hidden in the back of the booth I spotted a 2062 EC missing a spool, also needs a bail & trip lever spring. The owner had to call the seller to get a price...$15.The paint looks pretty good so hopefully I can get all the parts to make it complete again, or use it for parts. For 3 fins it was a no brainer.

Ok now, side by side, EF on the left EC on the right can you spot a difference? The correct answer may be worth something :fish

Quote from: akfish on January 22, 2026, 08:52:30 PMI'm not trying to make waves, but I always thought Shakey's Pizza was mediocre at best. I love pizza but I always get it from a non-chain restaurant. Am I the only one only one who feels this way?
I agree 100%.  Dominick

General Procedures / Re: Powder Coating

:)   Yes I have torture tested Powder coating .   I know it does not come off with sandblasting ,and you will work hard to wire wheel it off also .    When I slip with a knife it does not scratch .

Ten times stronger than paint .    The hardest paint to sandblast is the Mitchel 302 , That was the best paint put on any reel .

I too doubt you'll find any corrosion in there.
Good find!

I'm going today to take a stroll. Nothing specific I'm looking to get. Alan said he's flying down today and will be there all 4 days.

Just curious if anyone is going to the PCS show and what gear you're hoping to buy?
