Title: Shimano Tekota 300lc bearings
Post by: fodf on November 28, 2015, 11:14:48 PM
The 300lc has 4 bearings. From the schematic, they are TGT 0484 (2), 0487, and 0488. Does anyone sell these as a set? I have 8 reels that I'm rebuilding, and would like to buy these bearings as a complete set. Any thoughts?

Try Boca Bearings if your looking for a set.

Dawn will have them also if you have the sizes.

Boca does have a set of 2. The roller bearing seems to be the outlier. I could source out the 4 individually, but would prefer to get em all together. I'll be going to Dawn for all of the drag washers, so may ask her to put together a complete package for me. Thanx for your reply.

Getting the roller bearing out of the smaller Tekotas can be extremely difficult. If yours is toast, I'd recommend seeing if you can remove it before ordering the bearings. BTW: The only source I have found for Tekota anti-reverse bearings is Shimano itself. If you do need to replace it, you should also replace the roller clutch inner tube -- which you can only get from Shimano.

Yea buddy, those roller bearings are tough. Two have come out in pieces, except for the outer case. It's rusted into place. I'll get em out, somehow. I picked out the two reels with the most issues to tackle first, so from here on should be much easier. Yea right  ;). Thanks for your response.

It's almost easy to remove the roller bearings from the large (700 and 800) Tekotas because you can tap the edge of the outer case. As a last resort on the smaller Tekotas I use my Dremel to cut a small slot so that I can tap it out. I hate to do that but the cost of a side plate is way to much to scrap the old one.

Gotcha, that was my plan. A careful cut with a skinny wheel on the Dremel should get the job done. I'll post a pick if successful, or if it's a major fail. I have 2, and they are mine so no client will be harmed in this effort. Thanks for your reply..as always..appreciated.

I'm having the dreaded stuck roller bearing issue myself on a customer reel. How did you end up getting them out?
