Trying to get the right off a 2 speed. Impossible... is the ring threaded? Any tips appreciated.
Thanks much
Russ
yes, its threaded. the wrench grabs the bottom. you hold that then turn the ring. it's easy with channel locks, but you can't use channel locks because it will destroy the knurling. a small strap wrench will work, but you need a small one. yeah, this one is tough. :-\
Thanks Alan,
It's off to Harbor Freight today.
you have the penn wrench, correct?
Thanks Alan.
The Penn wrench and 6 dollar wrench from Sears did the trick. A bad bearing 26N-25 was the culprit. It made the handle pressure excessive in high gear.
Last question... Should the reel be stored in low or high speed? I seem to recall reading this somewhere
Thanks again!
Russ
high or low, in or out, won't matter! ;D
Only thing needed for storage that I'm aware of would be to back off the drag so that it doesn't stay compressed.
Rubber toothed pliers are a good thing to have in your tool set. There are many parts that these pliers can be used on.
