this sharks weight, was 390 odd/Kg, they say it took 45 minutes to land it with 15 Kg line, but they must have finished, it of with a power head/ smokey, as they managed to drag it backwards onto the deck of the boat, still had the head protruding out the back door, there was a picture in our local paper, but not clear enough to send to the forum, maybe someone on the East coast can supply a picture, cheers Don.
Did it look like this lil feller

more or less 860lb = 390 kg
wondering why taking that monster from the water? are sharks that size good to eat or just be a trophy fish for the pics?

Was that 45 minutes to reel it up to the boat, or 45 minutes to drag it onto the boat? ;D

Probably took 45 minutes to Clean the Crap off the Boat the Fish didn't put there .......
45 minutes to reel in on 30-33 pound test line . 860-870 pound fish. I think that fish wanted to get in that boat for quick snack !!
Once ashore, the tiger shark was weighed and given to scientists for marine research.
Yes thanks Billy, stats it, & thank to all that have commented, possibly a petty to kill it, but there was a man taken @ Broome late last year, they say it was a tiger shark that got him, as the white pointers dont seam to go that far North, cheers Don.
That boat looks very close to sinking. 6 guys and shark is far beyond capacity in that little dingy. Notice most the guys are on the opposite side of the boat from the shark.
I'm thinking insurance reasons,,,,, ;) just dump that honda engine off the back and blame it on the shark,,, :o problem solved,,,,,,,, ;D
Yeah Don, it's a shame to kill it.

I'd be on the other side of the boat from that thing too! I've had several "dead" sharks decide to flop around and chew on part of the boat.
The Man
I bet they used a 12ft noodle rod ::)
i would take a hard pass...... :-\
Thanks everyone, there would be a few broken limbs if the tail started thrashing back & forth ay, that why I said maybe they finished it of with a power head, smokey. cheers Don.
Too many testerone 💊 pills? ???

Not merely a shame, but criminal blind stupidity. >:(

Yes Gary, they must be all on the pill, & thanks Lanni, was a shame, cheers Don. stay safe keep well.
Speaking of Sharks, some beach Shark fishing tourists landed a GW off of Pensacola Beach Fl. Pretty lucky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR1B-GdsfWo&t=7s
That's wild. Been cold there? Sometimes there are strays off shore.
Not abnormally cold but one thing is since they started the GW shark tagging program they realized how GWs migrate from the north east coast down into the Gulf of Mexico. Seems like they were were always there but we are just learning more about them. If I had to make a wild guess it seems that they follow the Bluefin tuna migration to the breeding grounds in to the Gulf of Mexico.
I fish There. Those fella's got their game on. Swam away strong. That's how you do it!
Yeah they did very well but it seems like they hired a professional shark fishing guide.I'm stubborn and I probably wouldn't do that but it worked out for them.
Definitely no Bueno.
If you don't do it yourself, you didn't earn it.
Feel kinda bad readin this. I got an Oceanic Whitetip off a comercial tuna boat once. We stop for more than a few min., and they would show-up. Main purpose for catchin him, was the jaws. Cut them out and stick em in bleach until all flesh dissolves. Sizable jaws with large teeth for a small shark. But, pretty unethical and wasteful, just so I could show-off. Won't do that again...
