yes, let's get your smiling faces up on this board. i know that staying anonymous is the trend on the internet, but i would like that to not be the standard here. some serious talent is passing through this place. i met a guy last night that strips down his daiwa pluton after every fishing trip. you deserve credit and recognition for what you contribute, what you do and the help that you provide to others. i believe that starts with a real name and a real photo. if you need help, e-mail your photo and i can post it, but please give it a shot yourself first. thanks! alan
Not full-face (I wouldn't wish that on anyone) but my avatar is a ceramic that a friend sculpted for my 50th birthday
What should the dimensions and file size of an avatar be?
Thanks,

Codhead, yer mug couldn't be any worse than mine, lad. :D
You could say that again ;D. Dominick
unless you're sitting in a restaurant in paris.......
Alan, can you post how to size and add pics to our avatar?
Because the picture is automatically shrunk (is that a word?) down to thumbnail size, you should be able to use any photo.
Go to "Profile" and choose "Forum Profile Information".
Click on "I will upload my own picture" and then "Browse" to find the picture you want to use.
When you find the picture, try double-clicking on it but it shouldn't appear until you "Change Profile".
At the bottom click on "Change Profile".
You're done! Go back to the "Home" page and you should see your charming face.
Alan: I enjoyed Paris a lot, I considered going back this spring instead of (bite my tongue) Baja, ;) but wouldn't you know it? Baja won out ;D. Dominick
I'm sharing my mug with a Silver Salmon in Southeast Alaska.....however I could crop ME out for a better picture! ::)

I have an idea! Instead of posting our own head shots (fisherman ain't pretty)... post a photo of your dream girl(s) ;D
Sorry Alan... I can't help myself ::)

I did say "dream girls" ... I hate to tell yas, but your wives probably have their "dream guys" in their avatars on some cooking recipe sites. Don't ask me how I know ;D
Aren't here any single fishermen out there, guess it's just me... thanks for being hitched everyone. More for me! ;)

Oh we dined on her, she gave up some lovely fillets as my filleting assistant can testify:
She (the cat) was caught red-handed but fortunately before she had a chance to help herself.
Here are the fillets, the roe was smoked and tasted absolutely fantastic, sliced and gently fried in butter. The head & frame were boiled and the flesh recovered and used in fishcakes.

I did have a goatee for about 3 years. Got tired of it and shaved it off this morning. My wife wants it back, so . . . . :-\
I tried posting a picture of my beautiful face in the avatar spot (bout time) following Rob's instructions with no success... twice! ???
Would someone be so kind as to show me, as I am not too computer savvy at all.
Thanks,
Dom
Upper left 3" down, Home, Help, Search, Profile, click on Profile
Left middle, "Modify Profile", click on Profile Information, second down
Middle of box, click on either "I will upload my own picture" if it's on your computer, "I have my own pic" if it's on a place like Photobucket.
Put Photobucket ulr in the box to the right of "I have my own photo"
If it's on your computer hit "Browse" and find it on your computer
When finished scroll down and hit Change Profile at the lower right.
Lee,
That's the same as Rob's instructions, which I've now done 4 times. I have a question mark every where a photo should be. I install the photo from my computer, but when I hit change profile it doesn't do anything.
Any other ideas ???
Thanks
Dom
Hey Dom,
Check the size of the image. If it's too big, it won't load.
Around 100kb would be perfect.
If you have any trouble changing the size, email it to me and I'll sort it.
Cheers, Justin
Dom, Justin fixed me up. Then I lost it because the site was over the limit on capacity. I linked mine from photobucket. Good luck! Bob
I can't seem to get my pic loaded as an avatar...
I do this at several sites, so shouldn't be a problem, just cant get it to upload here...
I have tried to link it thru photobucket as well as thru the "browse" feature...

gotcha! how's that look?
Awesome shot
Thanks, Alan!
Ok. Having some trouble uploading my avatar from photobucket. Any suggestions?
Bob
Check the size Bob - the avatar pics won't load if they're too large...
Email it to me if you'd like me to sort it.
Cheers, Justin
Thanks Justin. Just sent you a pm.

hi all,
just stumbled across this site and wow !!
well im based in Melbourne Australia, and love my penn senators of the 70-80 erra
I still have my original first 113h 4/0 I bought it 79
ive just managed to purchase 1- 113h 4/0 special and a 114 6/0 senator, from the 70" or 80"s both still in there original box
with tools and even the penn lube !! im in heaven.
ive swapped out the old drags to carbon-tex ones on the 4/0 so far, but after reading this site, I guess I need to swap out the main gear to stainless steel, as I will be using these two reels on the tuna down under, probably should put them up for display as they are unused and pristine, but, na Im going to use them.
so looking forward to reading all on here and hopefully get some advice on where to get those s/s gears etc etc
look forward to chatting
regards
colin
tried putting one but cant seem to complete the step...
Tried several time, even wrote the directions out but no luck.

Well, I got motivated to try to get my beautiful face as my avatar, again. Tried everything with no luck, just some question marks, and yes I have read every single posting in this thread.
I have a Mac if that means anything. A little help here... I'm sick of looking like a guest in my own home ;)
Thanks

Thanks to some resizing by Justin (redsetta) I'm in business. Bluefish Mike, if you can resize a photo, you'll be able to post it. After Justin got it resized it was 36KB.

I can't even get a picture in the computer. I have a camera / wires or card so I am told. I also have a Smart Phone & just make calls & text. It's in a water proof case so I might use it as a sinker.

Justin,
I'd love to get ya out on broadway sometime, especially if you'll help me keep pescachasers shirt buttoned up. Next season I'd like to get an A.T. crew trip or two for members in the area or ones willing to travel here. Hopefully in may for the cow bass migration.
All the best,

You're very kind, Alan, but I don't think it is that great. I just don't have many digital photos of me with a fishing theme.

It is a rainbow trout with some ice and snow on it. We were ice fishing at Eagle Valley reservoir near Pioche Nevada.

That's a great idea!! I'm kinda jealous that there appears to be a west coast thing, that might happen??? This summer. Maybe beat them to the punch with a striper trip in the spring with a follow up of say maybe a tank testing canyon fall trip?? Whatever it turns out to be from porgies to tuna( just not blackfishing. That's an art form I've yet to grasp) IM IN!
Bob
I will do that soon. However, I don't know what an avatar is. I know enough to get by, but there is a lot I need to learn. If someone can tell me how to post a pic, I will post one soon. I need to try out my new digital camera anyway.
a photo will need to reduced and/or cropped to about 120x120 and then it should fit. it will need to be that small to be uploaded. pick a photo and i can help. alan
Ive croped and croped so much i feel like a farmer not a fisherman.still cant get my avatar loaded.any decade now ill get this computer stuff.thanks Joe

Glad to be here! I have been reading and admiring your fishing reel savvy for several years now. Just glad to be a part of it and want to try rebuilding a few reels. I am looking to buy the bearing re-packing tools you and your machinist have designed. Then maybe a spooler for my Ford Ranger? Not to change the subject!
Where are the parts sold at?
send a pm with your address and i will ship it out. thanks! and welcome!!!!
Glad to have found this.
First time I've seen this thread.....sorry boss!
