Title: tyrnos 30 Cross Bar
Post by: Kopstamp on August 08, 2011, 12:21:26 PM
Hi Guys

I am intending to use the tyrnos 30 for surf fishing and will be casting the reel from the shore.
I see it is possible to remove the top cross bar. By removig this one is able to cast the reel easier.
By removing this bar does the reel loose structural integraty? No harness will be used so there will not be any exstra "force" on the reel in that area.

Is this a safe option?

Regards

I will make the reel weaker; however, if you plan to fish the reel with light drag and light line, I suspect you could get away with it. Personally, I'd go with a different reel or learn to cast with the top piece in place. And you'll certainly drastically lower the resale value.

a better bet would be a tiburon frame http://www.tiburonfishingreels.com/shimano-tld-2-speed-reels for the tld 20 or tld 30.
