Post by: Fishgolfman on August 27, 2019, 08:47:04 PM
I am a penn, Newell collector and repairer. Just got into abu ambassadeur reels made in Sweden. Looking for schematic source of old 4500 , 5000 etc. also looking for a reliable parts place. Us penn guys have mystic:Scott's. Newell is hit and miss. Who are the go to people for ambassadeurs.

Here's ABU's schematic site. (http://www.abugarcia.com/AbuGarcia-reel-schematics.html) You may find what you need there.

eBay is always my first choice, but eReplacement parts is a good go-to place for non-obsolete parts. (https://www.ereplacementparts.com/abu-garcia-parts-c-187196.html)

Click on the appropriate style reel (https://www.ereplacementparts.com/abu-garcia-round-reel-parts-c-187196_187197.html), scroll down, and you can look through a numerical model list to find the reel you need parts for.

Click on that model (i.e. 4500) (https://www.ereplacementparts.com/abu-garcia-4500-ambassadeur-parts-c-187196_187197_187260.html)  and you can see what's available.

On the ABU schematic site, the name of the pdf file is often the number stamped on the stand.

Sometimes the only option is to get a parts reel off ebay.  There are always plenty of 5000's that don't cost much more than a small parts order.

I use those two for everything but side plates.  Those I get from eReplacement Parts.  Jerry is usually my first stop but I'll order from Dad's Ole Tackle in a pinch if I need something quick.  I dunno what it is about the post office, but for some reason any time I order from Jerry it takes a week for me to get parts even having him ship Priority Mail.
