Title: TLD 25 Question.
Post by: kique on March 09, 2014, 06:46:59 PM
Hey Guys,

I just bought a TLD 25 and i was wondering if i should upgrade to Carbontex drag washers?

Or can any one explain what exactly do they do?
Do the increase the drag?

no, you increase the drag by removing a thrust washer and adding a belleville to the left side, and also by adding a shim wahser to the drag pressure plate.  i have and can send you both.  i also have the drag washers and the handle.

greased carbon fiber drags stay smooth forever.  they never go bad.  the canvas drag you have in your single speed reel will get sticky eventually.  there is a full post on this reel http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=36.0  i add a $19 carbontex drag (i can pregrease it for you) and a $43 tld 20/25 handle arm with a 5/0 grip.  it's a great combination.  will you be able to service the reel yourself?  we charge $40 plus return shipping to work on one of these.  that includes servicing the bearings.

the problem with the single speed tld's is that they are the most expensive to "bring up to speed."  oh, and welcome!!!!!!
