Title: Shimano and Power Pro
Post by: gstours on March 13, 2014, 02:13:29 AM
The other day I saw on a shimano corporate site some power pro banners and logo.  It seems that maybe they have teamed up with them, or absorbed them, or why would they have the name associated with theirs??????   Just a question, and this might be a good thing, for the consumer???? if so I,ll wait and see......
Ya you can say you saw it here, so your buddys won,t laugh at you!!!!!!!!!!!!!  gst?

Shimano acquired Power Pro years ago to complete their fishing line ( rods, reels, lures, and now fishing line).  It also allows them to compete with Daiwa Boat Braid...One of the oldest braids out there and one of the best.  Did you see that Shimano also bought Loomis Rods when searching the site?

No there isnt a lifetime warranty on Loomis anymore.  They have the 'wildcard' program in which you are allowed a one time replacement.

From the Loomis website:

G.Loomis Limited Lifetime Warranty.
G. Loomis rods are covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty against non-conformities in workmanship and materials for the life of the original owner.

If memory serves they used to have a no questions asked guarantee like Reddington etc so if you slammed it in the car door they fix it, but have dropped that. Makes sense though not really fair to have the rod replaced if it is your fault.

Well good luck with that, there are forums just full of debate over it.  From the horses mouth, the shimano rep who posts on those forums, it's the 'wildcard' program.  The only rod I ever broke was 100% my fault and a shimano.  The local shop still insisted on using the over the counter warranty, which I appreciated.
