Are the current stock drags carbon fiber? The ones it have I'm my reel have a cloth type look as opposed to the paper ones they used to put in.
not trying to hijack a thread, but since people are going to discuss Saltist, anyway...
Where the heck, are/were these reels made -- I've heard Japan, Korea, AND China ??? If there are older Japan-made models, how do I recognize them without the benefit of looking at the reel-foot? (model #'s, distinctive features, etc.) I'm a big believer in Japanese workmanship & would look for an old one, over new/outsourced ANY day!
Reel foot says Korea,
the new saltist LDs have washers called "Ultimate Tournament carbon drag (UTD)", maybe these are CF washers. i'll discover soon enough when i open my Daiwa with UTD...
update, just look at Alan T.'s tutorial on a Saltist LD 20 and it is carbon fiber.
