Title: Used Penn grease on carbontex drag washers
Post by: indoman on May 02, 2014, 01:30:21 AM
It said for drag washers on the jar...  Sounds like there are better options.

What's the best way to clean the carbontex drag washers before re-greasing them?

Thanks

If you are just cleaning the old drag grease off and applying new drag grease, just rub them off with a rag then apply new grease with a toothbrush in a circular motion.  If lever drag, wipe off excess.  If star drag reel, just install.  Excess grease will be pressed out.

Penn grease is good stuff and if it said it was for drag washers I wouldn't worry about it.

Somewhere on here it is reported that Penn uses Penn grease for their CF drag disks, they say they haven't found anything better.

penn has a duragel that is a pure teflon product.  it was tested against cal's grease and penn decided to stick with duragel even though cal's product was tested out as superior.  so says cal sheets.  :-\
