Title: shimano stradic 5000fj help.....
Post by: cmaraj1 on June 04, 2014, 11:29:46 PM
my friend lost her shimano two weeks ago when she forgot to set the drag and over the pier it went......
a diver found it and it was returned to her...
she took it to a local bait shop and they are charging her 15 bucks per bearing...plus 25 for labor....
if i try to take this project on, is it only the bearing i would need to replace and clean&regrease the inside?
how much would new bearings be?
any help would be great fellas

also i once heard shimano are lifetime warrenty???? any truth to this????

Where are you located?  Shimano North America will repair/service the reel for $25, which I believe includes all necessary parts.  Check their website for info.

I haven't used Shimano's reel service but in your case I would. Those bearings are no more than $6.00 each for ABEC 5 all SS. I buy them all the time at wholesale and will be glad to send you the correct ones for your reel. These are from Boca Bearings..

You will never know until you open the reel so get at that first. I would assume the roller clutch will be rusted. the longer it sits the worse it will be. If your not getting inside the reel quick throw it back in come fresh water to lessen the rusting. The water will help keep the oxygen away..
