Title: Penn 210, Not mag tuned??
Post by: johnachak on June 13, 2014, 08:48:16 PM
Hi all, I hope your day is going well. I have a Penn 210 reel. I recently purchased this on Ebay. It needed servicing and is in perfect condition right now. My question is this:
I Google search for Penn 210 and I always see Mag tuned 210. the Scott's B&T site shows it under mag tuned. In the schematic as in my reel, no magnet. I have a Penn 10 mag tuned and there is a magnet. It also says Mag tuned. The 210 only says Penn 210 and High Speed / Ball Bearings. Were there 2, different 210's made? Sweet reel BTW. The Penn description says 2 + 1 BB, my reel only has 2. It says soft rubberized handle. Mine has the black plastic knob handle. What the heck? Most if not all of the 210's I see on Ebay have the plastic handle too. I'm confused...
Does anyone have any knowledge about these?
Thanks,
John

I have never sen a 210 with magnets. The 10 does have magnets. The older 210s had plastic torpedo handles; later they came with the soft grip handle. Early 210s had steel spools; later models had aluminum spools. BTW: It's almost impossible to get 210 bridges anymore...
