Title: Penn 14/0
Post by: Rivertrader5 on June 28, 2014, 07:50:45 PM
HI THIS IS MY FIRST POST & i AM NOT SURE THAT i AM DOING IT CORRECTLY.

I took an older penn 117  14/0 apart to clean and thanks to your website I think
that I now can put it back together.  However, my question is on the bridge with sleeve there was a metal tab which broke off.  Is the tab critical or will the reel work
properly without it?

Thanks for any help
John

Welcome John!
The only metal tab I can think of is like the chrome bridge has in this post. It will work without it, It is supposed to help keep the main gear in alignment. Usually the older steel main gear reels have it and the Bronze gear models don't.

Shark Hunter,  Thanks that is it.  I also had a problem when taking it apart the dog spring came flying out and I could not understand how an ink pen spring got on my bench. But your forum and parts diagram helped solve that.

Thanks again

John
