Title: PENN 525 MAG Gear Question
Post by: ez2cdave on June 29, 2014, 03:47:02 AM

Do the gears from any other Penn reels interchange with the 525 MAG gears to provide different gear ratio's ?

No, there isn't versa gears available for that model you've enquired about (525 mag with live spindle/inboard spool bearings).

As per Alan's link, for standard GS series (non mag with fixed axle spools), yes, a lower gear ratio set is available.  ;)

That's what I thought about using GS gears, but was pretty sure  they wouldn't work in a 525 Mag . . . Thanks !

On a different note . . .

Will the "hardened" Gears from a Penn Baja 113HN exchange into the other GS reels, excluding the 525 Mag ?
