Title: Avet HX Raptor
Post by: 1000clowns on August 02, 2010, 11:23:12 PM
It sounds like a new approach to large tuna is to use an Avet HX Raptor spooled with a short topshot of 100# mono over 100# spectra. The idea is that a small reel will cast better.

If I look at the size of the spool on a Avet HX and an Avet 30N they look similar. How much better would casting an HX be over the 30n?

Thank you

i don't know the specifics of the reels, but in general the reel with the overall lower spool mass will cast farther.  my concern would be the drag range of the hx.  it can't possibly be as high as the avet 30.  alan
