this is what i use to wax the spools before i put line on
to prevent the pitting from salt
melt a little piece, dip the soft cloth in,rub
on the spool,last forever,maybe longer ;D

now hear this kids, this is your capt speaking ;D
if you wax the spool you dont have to strip all your line
off for washing.
only the top 1/3 ( maybe)

Loud and Clear El Capitan Wallace!
I wax my spools with car wax. I still remove the line after a trip, wax it again and put it back on.
I have way much more time away from the coast than I like. Even a chrome polish on the chromed brass helps keep the spools from corroding. Hours of preparation pay off in the fight! ;)

Good tip Capt. Wallace ;).
Daron, is that Dominick when he was younger?

Btw, I'm noticing that aluminum spools loaded with a couple of yards of Dacron look good, not so much on some of the others without it.
I'm starting to use Dacron backing on mono, mostly for that reason.

Sal, do you put Dacron backing on your SS spinners as well? I haven't thus far, but perhaps I should.   ???
