OK I am an old skool type of guy and have been pondering a new project. I'm going to take an old machinist tool chest and convert it into a saltwater tackle box. I'm currently looking into the pictured box but was wondering what the best way to remove the old felt??? I really don't want to swell the wood as I will try to retain as much patina as possible and then seal the drawers from the inside w/possible hand made deviders???

Nice old box
I am a carpenter
Personaly I would be looking at options to replace the lining (closed cell polestyrene? felt? something absorbent? deck liner?)
there will be a huge amount of work in the insides up to scratch
dividers no problem
outside good quality wax and elbow grease
good luck Jon
