Title: Halibut for mr. redpants!
Post by: gstours on October 06, 2014, 04:23:54 AM
A friend and his buddy came up to fish a little,  we had a great time, the weather was good, and the tides ok too. these were all caught on penn and diawa 4/0 hotrodded reels.  they worked good.  but I prefer a two spd.

The baits were large herring, w. salmon scraps, injected with menhaden/herring/shrimp oil mixtures.
The fish were on a shelf in about 150ft of water.  They were layin in there like shingles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Mr. redpants even brings his own knife for the cutting,  he,s a dedicated fisherman,  he always brings up beer, but never drinks.
I,m glad you like my pictures, and my truck.  its a halibut hauler for sure.  maybe i,ll send another pic soon. before i ware out my welcome.

my brother has a funny halibut story something like that. he came back with 200 pounds of halibut from alaska years ago, ate halibut for a year.  the stort is alot funnier when he tells it after a few drinks.  i think tim heard it when we were on the spirit of adventure.  had us in stitches!!!!!

Not too much better on a cold Winter day --

Chunks of halibut sautéed with sliced mushrooms, over rigatoni with a white cream sauce.

Warm sourdough bread with butter,  green salad, beverage of your choice.

We call this the "Scarface"

This is a variation on a local Italian restaurant -- we use halibut in place of chicken.

Best,

Fred

Yea, a bigger boat!  Did I hear somebodys pooling some of their slush funds to buy me a bigger boat......I dunno?  me boats ok for now. fishes 3 good.   but I could use a new truck.   poor old me, and my old broken down truck, haulin around my new makaira around.........
I gotta send more pics to convince the skeptics,   I gotta go!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Redpants likes my truck, although he made a nice comment this year in something like it was starting to have some character, and smells like a lucky truck.........what the heck does a lucky truck smell like......maybe trucks know when their about to get lucky just like people do.......i dunno?
