Title: Handle upgrade for the Penn 16s
Post by: gstours on October 10, 2014, 05:17:48 AM
As these are great reels, they lack a good grip and a longer crank arm sure makes cranking waay easier for bottom fishing like I do.
below is shown the factory arm, with my new version as well.

the new arm came as a roughed out blank from mr. lee (kita) and the knob is a rubber offset factory item from okuma. (typical makaira knob).
these were mated by tig welding an all stainless steel flat bar and including an offset to reduce reel crank wobble under load...

as the high gear is 4.5-1 this longer 4.24'' arm is appreciated, makes a really sweet affordable, sturdy reel, with everything you need assuring confidence and luck.

Thanks to Lee, Okuma parts Dave, and my wife for financing the whole package.

Slick job on the handle.
Will be posting a pic of the finished crank and handle I made for my 6/0 Senator build soon.
Just gotta get out of Singapore first.....
