According to my Vet. fish is not a natural food for Cats. Where I grew up the Cats would steal the Snapper Blues out of your pail or off your hook if you gave them a chance.

Yes I,m sure the vet was right, as they may not have had fish available, but cats and humans have "evolved" for a long time...My cat would always try to steal a piece, so then I would carve off little tidbits, and we made friends,  then would try the same at the dinner table, I was in trouble again, but I,m use to it.

When I make a Canned Salmon sandwich Boots eats off one side & I eat the other side of the sandwich. Blackie doesn't like people food except for milk.

From the alantani.com resident veterinarian: cats are desert predators, from north Africa and the middle east. No fish to eat there, and usually no water either.  Like any other desert carnivore, they get all of their water from their prey.

They evolved to eat a high protein, high moisture, extremely low carbohydrate diet. I've been recommending an all canned food diet for all cats for about six years.

We have been told Canned Food only but one Cat won't go near it. The other one eats both their dishes of food.

When I tried to wake him up, my cat rolled open one eye and said "get lost, i,m dreaming" and ignored me so I left.  I figgured he would be up and around when I started dinner!   Yep he was!  Maybe he was dreaming of somebody cookin him up a snack!!!!(http://i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p660/gst6814/1435_zpsbc8edc40.jpg) (http://s1344.photobucket.com/user/gst6814/media/1435_zpsbc8edc40.jpg.html)

It's tough with some cats. They imprint on certain foods when they're young, and won't recognize anything else as food. Dr Pierson has written a great article on making the transition. The catinfo.org website that I mentioned earlier is hers, and this is her article from my favorite pet owner's reference site, veterinarypartner.com. The title of the article is "How to transition your dry food addict cat to canned food."

I would like to know how many copies of this article I've given out.
